Alexandra's Mission was established by Alexandra's family, together with her closest friends, who came together to honour her memory and help prevent other families from experiencing the same devastating loss.

Gordon Thoms
Founding Director
For Gordon Thoms, Alexandra's Mission is deeply personal. Following the sudden and devastating loss of their daughter Alexandra to sudden cardiac death, Gordon, his family and Alexandra’s friends established Alexandra's Mission to honour her legacy and help prevent other families experiencing the same tragedy.
The subsequent discovery that Alexandra had an undiagnosed genetic heart condition led to life-saving diagnoses for other family members, giving Gordon a profound understanding of how awareness, screening, research and early detection can save lives.
This experience has shaped his commitment to ensuring other families have access to the knowledge, support and opportunities for early intervention that his own family did not have. As a Director of Alexandra's Mission, Gordon combines this personal passion with the strategic leadership, governance expertise and stakeholder relationships developed throughout a successful professional career spanning financial services and the not-for-profit sector.
In addition to his role with Alexandra's Mission, Gordon serves as Vice Chair of the Australian Sudden Cardiac Arrest Alliance (AuSCAA) and Treasurer & Director of Cardiomyopathy Australia & New Zealand (CMANZ). Through these roles, he works to strengthen collaboration across the cardiac health community, advocate for greater awareness and support research initiatives aimed at preventing sudden cardiac death.
Gordon is committed to honouring Alexandra's legacy by helping turn unimaginable loss into meaningful action, driving greater awareness, earlier detection and better outcomes for individuals and families affected by inherited heart conditions and sudden cardiac death.
In 2025, Gordon shared Alexandra's story and the case for national action on sudden cardiac death at the Sudden Cardiac Arrest conference, hosted by Armchair Medical. Watch his talk, "Why Are We Here?"
Jacqui Lamont (nee Thoms)
Director
Jacqui shares the heartbreak of her niece Alexandra’s loss. Together with her eldest daughter Jessica, she has the same abnormal gene and cardiomyopathy that caused Alexandra’s Sudden Cardiac Death.
Having worked in radio and public relations, Jacqui brings compassion and understanding to families who have lost loved ones to SCD and the processes involved with genetic testing.
Jacqui is passionate about raising awareness about Sudden Cardiac Death in the young and raising funds for vital heart research.
Isabelle Gough
Director
Isabelle Gough joined Alexandra’s Mission in honour of her close friend Alexandra. Alexandra lived life with a rare sense of adventure, kindness and connection, bringing people together wherever she went and leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Motivated by her legacy, Isabelle is committed to raising awareness of cardiomyopathy and supporting research aimed at preventing Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) in young Australians. Through Alexandra’s Mission, she is committed to helping ensure that fewer families and friends experience the devastating loss of a loved one.
Drawing on her professional background in audit and transaction services, Isabelle contributes financial expertise and strategic insight to the board. She is proud to support Alexandra’s Mission in advancing research and awareness to help prevent SCD and honour Alexandra’s memory.
Olivia Murdoch
Director
Olivia joined the board of Alexandra’s Mission following the loss of her close friend, Alexandra. Knowing Alex and experiencing the profound impact of her death has shaped Olivia’s commitment to raising awareness of cardiomyopathy and helping prevent Sudden Cardiac Death in young people.
Through her work with Alexandra’s Mission, Olivia hopes to turn lived experience into meaningful action - supporting research, improving awareness and helping more young Australians understand the importance of heart health. She is dedicated to ensuring Alexandra’s story continues to create change while honouring the warmth, energy and sense of connection she brought to the lives of those around her.
With a professional background in brand, design and marketing, Olivia contributes creative direction, communications and campaign expertise to the organisation. She is proud to help grow Alexandra’s Mission, strengthen its community and share its message in a way that is both impactful and true to Alexandra’s legacy.
